This April we saw the best in the world compete at the FEI World Cup in Las Vegas, where notably, the UK’s Charlotte Dujardin solidified her position as the highest ranked rider in the world and wowed the crowd with her mount Valegro.
Noel Asmar Equestrian was a proud exhibitor at the World Cup and we were thrilled to meet current and new clients from around the globe. Experiencing world class talent in both Show Jumping and Dressage was a memorable moment for our entire team.
This feeling could only compete with the event that followed the next weekend. Charlotte Dujardin travelled to British Columbia Canada for a three day dressage symposia in our own backyard and we were there to watch.
Noel Asmar Equestrian proudly supported the clinic by supplying a curated collection of outfits for the riders to wear each day. Riders of all levels from Western Canada and the United States travelled to participate in this event including Canadian Olympian Bonny Bonnello, American rider Alyssa Pitts, and local coach and rider Rochelle Kilberg with her stallion Samba Hit V just to name a few.
It was an honour to support talented riders whose dedication and passion for the sport of dressage shown through while they learned from the best in the world. Charlotte’s teaching style was direct, witty and experienced. The world record holder still hacks out a few days a week, breaks her own young horses; and while Valegro is the shining star in her barn, she still competes and trains with a variety of other horses all with different breeding, temperaments and skill levels.
In the privacy of the warm up day, our CEO and designer Noel met with Charlotte. The two share a mutual drive for excellence and an incredible attention to detail – both willing to roll up their sleeves and get the job done themselves.
Leading up to the clinic we did a call out looking for a young rider to join us at our table. We received applicants from all over the world and every single one of them was more than deserving. While we wish we could have shared the opportunity in person with them all, we had to choose one. The VIP package winner Shay attended all three days with her mom and diligently took notes, absorbing every moment. We were very happy to have shared this experience with someone who will carry this knowledge forward in her own equestrian endeavours in the future.
Charlotte pushed riders physically and mentally. She challenged them to work on things they didn’t like to do, practise the difficult elements, gain that extra little bit of control and push the boundaries. Her “yee-haw” tactic was a little intimidating to some, but the message of sending the horse forward was received loud and clear.
Confident in her methods, Charlotte willingly climbed into the saddle of many horses at the clinic to demonstrate her techniques. Both horses and riders thrived under her tutelage that weekend, and looked simply stunning while they worked.
Noel Asmar designs are created specifically for function and durability in the saddle, but also for style and eye appeal. Each rider’s outfit matched their horse and their personal style.
Bright pops of punch pink were seen throughout the weekend with show shirts, technical tops, vest and breeches. Comfort and innovative design drive the collections and we were proud to help each rider feel and look their best as they took the ring.
